Looking for a vacation home? Find perfect vacation homes easily
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedYou’ve decided that you would rather rent vacation homes than stay in hotels.
Renting vacation homes can often be less expensive, especially if you can get to cook your own food and especially if a large group is traveling, and it is also a great way to get to know what living in a foreign country is really like. Many homeowners of beautiful properties on waterfronts, in mountains or tropical islands have to rent their home out as vacation homes in order to pay the bills.
When you get in contact with a homeowner, don’t be afraid to ask for references from previous vacationers in their home. Reputable vacation home landlords will happily provide references. Read the rental agreement carefully before signing, especially to be sure what you are liable for and what you aren’t. Also know before you sign what the refund policy is if you have to cancel your vacation homes. And see if you are allowed to bring your pet.
Three Web sites to help you to find the perfect vacation homes
Tripadvisor.com: With all of the hype and advertising, you never know quite what to believe. Get the best advice from people who’ve been in your situation as Tripadvisor.com forums. There you can ask a question about renting a vacation home in the country or city you choose. There are millions of travelers who use the advice of those who like to travel and those who have to travel. The chances are extremely good that not just one, but several forum members of Tripadvisor.com have been where you want to go.
Vacation Homes.com: You can save a lot of money if you can rent vacation homes directly from the home owners instead of going through a realtor or travel agency. They can get you in contact with home owners around the world. This website has been around for ten years (a virtual Methuselah in the internet universe!) and isn’t going anywhere. They also offer other travel related services.
Vacation Rentals 411.com: This is another international vacation homes directory which is a free service for vacationers; but owners of vacation homes pay a fee to advertise there. They also have an easy to navigate Help page, which included what questions you should ask a homeowner before you agree to pay anything.
