Cruises are some of the best vacations available for travelers today. In most cases, for a price of less than $150 per day, you get unlimited food, drinks, entertainment, a room, and the ability to view some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. No wonder that cruises are gaining in popularity every year. Some of the most popular cruises being booked right now are European cruises.

Many European cruises focus on one specific region of Europe for their voyages. The cruises that focus on the Mediterranean typically pull into port in Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Croatia. Cruises that travel the Baltic Sea will generally stop in St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. There are even European cruises that focus on the major cities of Europe, pulling into port in Athens, Rome, Paris, and Barcelona. Which ever region you choose, it is sure to be full of amazing sights and wonderful people.

European cruises can be taken on cruise ships of a variety of different sizes. Many individuals choose to cruise on the largest ships available, which are basically floating resorts. These ships have multiple pools, a shopping promenade, a movie theater, and can carry as many as 3,000 passengers. On the largest ships, there are plenty of items on board to keep you occupied, but with so many people there are bound to be long lines for the more popular features and the ship is too large to fit into many ports.

The medium sized ships that conduct European cruises are the more traditional cruise ships that many travelers are familiar with. These ships provide greater intimacy and a wider variety in their itineraries than the larger ships. However, many of these ships have been around for decades and can use some refurbishing. Inquiring about the age of the ship prior to booking the cruise can ensure that you are not stuck on an aging relic. Smaller ships can pull into many more ports than their larger companions, but the ride is not the smoothest and the luxury found aboard the bigger ships is missing.

European cruises are an excellent way to see the sights of many of Europe’s premier vacation destinations on a single trip. Regardless of the region visited, you are sure to have a wonderful, relaxing, and inspiring experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. Isn’t that what a vacation is all about?
