The name of Royal Caribbean Cruise line is sure to ring a bell because it happens to be the most well recognized and well known cruise ship company in the world. One of the greatest attractions to sailing aboard its ships is that this company boasts of some of the biggest sized cruise ships in the world. Royal Caribbean Cruise line is an American/Norwegian company that is based in Miami, Florida though its ships are classified as Liberian.
Founded In 1968
The founding of Royal Caribbean Cruise line took place in the year 1968 at which time three companies – Anders Wilhemsen & Company, I.M. Skaugen & Company and Gotaas Larsen – were amalgamated. At that time the company’s main operations were focused in the Arctic region and first Royal Caribbean Cruise line ships included Song of Norway and Nordic Prince.
The year 1982 marked the beginning of Royal Caribbean Cruise line’s entry into the world routes and the first of its ships to sail the world was Song Of America that is still the world’s third largest cruise ship. Royal Caribbean Cruise line has not looked back since then and it continues to offer customers a chance to sail aboard some of the largest cruise ships in the world. A hallmark of the name of each of its ships is that the name of the ships all have “of the seas” in them.
At present, Royal Caribbean Cruise line has twenty ships that are further classified into six different types; Freedom Class, Genesis Class, Radiance Class, Voyager Class, Sovereign Class and Vision Class. Royal Caribbean Cruise line also has a further three other ships under construction to ensure that customers get the best service and facilities, and in particular, its Freedom of the Seas was at one time the biggest passenger ship in the world.
However, it would be wrong to associate Royal Caribbean Cruise line with only large ships because the company also has a few coastal retreats in Haiti and Bahamas and these retreats too provide customers a chance to get even more pleasure from traveling aboard a Royal Caribbean Cruise line ship as they get to stay in one of these retreats and so, can get to enjoy their vacations even more.
Royal Caribbean Cruise line does face stiff competition from other cruise line companies and one of these competitors happens to be Caribbean Princess Cruise line which also offers trips that are sure to be filled with excitement and which will give travelers a chance to get a taste of the Caribbean that is very special and nothing like what other cruise line companies are offering.
